Our Focus

The new super complexity

Constructing and running the built environment is becoming more challenging. New requirements – for increased productivity, safety, speed to market, reduced energy use, building at scale and unique site requirements are adding complexity. So too is the ever increasing amount of data to analyse and prioritise – and there'll be more to come with the internet of things. The sector is moving forward rapidly, and traditional construction techniques are struggling to keep up.

We understand complexity, but believe in simplicity

At Bryden Wood we reduce risk and increase value. For over 20 years we have been analysing complexity and looking for ways to understand and simplify it. This philosophy is why we have led the industry’s adoption of Offsite and advanced construction techniques. Looking to the future, we are finding new ways to apply this thinking to deal with complexity across all types of construction schemes and design in lower risk and increased efficiency.

Experience the future, improve the future

Before you write a brief, we use your data to bring the future of your asset to life in a virtual model. Then we can answer the important questions - “Does it work as envisaged?”, “Will it cope well with predicated uses?” and “Can it adapt to, as yet unknowable, future uses?”. The answers inform the design brief, ensuring the final version is optimised and able to deliver everything its users need. Then we continue to anchor the design in the delivery, with architecture and engineering capabilities that are both inventive and practically applied. That way we build on foundations of predictability - reducing time, waste and carbon.

Digital Simulations, real benefits

Today huge amounts of data are a given - what matters is how you use them. As designers our approach is to bring data to life, to unlock its lessons. That means creating interactive techniques, software and models in a kind of beta test of the strategy and design. First we visualise disparate and complex information, translating it into something that's easy to work with. Then we create digital simulations that let you envisage and assess the future of your asset. Everything you learn can be fed back to optimise the strategy and design brief.

From design to delivery

For over 20 years leading the industry in Offsite, we know that inventive design solutions must have practical applications to reduce uncertainty. That means understanding what detail will be needed during implementation, and providing it at an early stage. Likewise, our architecture and engineering capabilities deliver solutions that are rooted in delivery and can be implemented using existing tools, components and supply chain processes.

Same principles, different applications

With these advanced techniques we can reduce unpredictability and risk for our clients, whilst increasing efficiency and value across a range of strategic, operational and construction processes -

  • Mega projects
  • Large scale builds
  • Offsite and DfMA
  • Data analysis and visualisation to improve business performance
  • Estate and portfolio planning
  • Traditional on site processes
