Sustainability

Lean, efficient design is the best form of sustainable design

Sustainability rooted in efficiency

We’ve always been driven by efficiency and value, striving to use less material and energy whilst achieving superior aesthetics and outcomes. It's an approach that adds not just value, but enshrines sustainability, because it lowers the overall carbon cost of assets.

We are certified to both ISO9001 (Quality Management) & ISO14001 (Environmental Management). The Leadership Team at Bryden Wood are committed to the continual improvement of quality and environmental issues that impact our business, projects, clients and employees.

HCC PCP Embodied Energy Evaluation

Estimated 30% reduction in embodied energy against benchmark

Sainsbury's Low Cost store

Exceeded client targets of 60% reduced carbon emissions and 20% renewable energy sources. The application of a combination of a wood pellet biomass boiler, gas fired CHP, and photovoltaic panels resulted in 31% renewable sources and a 24% improvement over the standards of AD Part L2.

No working at height in construction process

Factory in a box, GSK

BWL optimised the structural solution enabling the inclusion of an increased height mezzanine plant deck as well as reducing the number of ramps within the design (all within the tight height constraints defined by the airport.)

Gatwick airport

Described by one visitor as "An oasis of light and space," we are rightly proud of the fabulous environment our students have to work in. Plus the classrooms are 25% larger than statutory regulations.
