As a senior member of the sustainability team you will be responsible for setting targets and strategies with both our clients and internal teams. Although Sustainability sits within Building Services discipline, Bryden Wood is both exceptionally integrated and collaborative. You will work with our architects, creative technologists, structural and systemisation engineers and analysts, giving valuable insight and direction on our innovative and market-leading approach to sustainability in design, construction and in operation.
The role requires direct experience with:
- Developing sustainability strategies with clients and internal teams
- Sustainability Statements to support planning applications
- BREEAM, WELL and LEED assessments for various project types
- Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in collaboration with architectural and engineering disciplines on project work and for internal product development
- Leading teams and mentoring junior staff
- Setting internal sustainability targets
- Working in the built environment sector
Essential skills include:
- Direct experience of applying BREEAM, WELL, LEED and/or other environmental rating tools
- Ability to undertake LCA and Embodied Carbon Assessments
- Demonstrate understanding of the circular economy and whole life carbon
- Knowledge of modular and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA)
- Educated to degree level in an architectural or engineering discipline
- Expert knowledge of current sustainability and energy legislation and best practice
- Demonstrate ability to develop new workstreams and research with a sustainable agenda
Desirable capabilities include:
- LEED AP, WELL AP, Fitwel ambassador or BREEAM Assessor and AP for new construction and refurbishment projects
- Passivhaus Accredited or experience of applying Passivhaus to residential and non-residential projects
- SAP calculations (certification is not necessary)
- Experience with Post Occupancy Evaluations (POE)
- IES VE modelling to include energy modelling, Part L compliance, thermal comfort assessment and daylight analysis
- Chartership with a relevant institution
- Be an active member of sustainable workgroups such as LETI, Architects Declare or ACAN
