Loudoun Road

Our design strategy is heavily informed by this analysis of the surrounding environment. Our proposal is a contemporary response to the historic pattern of development found along Loudoun Road. The solution is to be part of this pattern by inserting a contemporary building between these varying existing buildings and using it to enhance the relationship between the disparate styles of the existing neighbouring buildings. Our design picks up on the characteristics of the Victorian and Modern houses adjoining the site and creates a point of overlap between them. The result is a piece of architecture that sits comfortably within its sensitive context and avoids becoming a pastiche of these buildings.
