Structural and Civil | Senior Engineer | MEng. MSc. MICE. CEng.
Helder has over 6 years of experience in the industry and since joining Bryden Wood's Civil and Structural team in February 2019 he has been involved with Equinix LD11 and Heathrow terminal extensions.
Prior to this, he has worked in Asia for Arup for 4 years after completing his studies in the UK in 2012. He has both design and site experience from the various projects he was involved with: from large new casinos/hotels to residential apartment blocks to two-storey townhouses. His experience is mainly in reinforced concrete frames and has expanded to steelworks, timber and masonry since returning to the UK in 2016 where he worked for a structural engineering consultant in London.
Apart from the technical knowledge in engineering/construction he also has an appreciation of using new technologies and is continuously looking to learn/adapt new methods to raise efficiency in his works. He uses a range of tools such as finite element software combined with some programming to identify/test solutions. However, he is also a keen believer that sketching is still the way to go about exploring ideas/concepts particularly during the initial stages of design.
